This is a very controversial idea. As a single mom, I was willing to take the cut in pay that goes with working in a school instead of a hospital to be off with my daughter. There is merit in what you say. The children I see at the k-5 level have a hard time returning to school after long vacations. The younger children have separation anxiety, and the older children are used to staying up late. The day before a vacation is a wasted education day. The students are so excited that it seems difficult to get anything done.

Scott,
All three of my children were HS athletes and I believe what you say is accurate. Sometimes, as the saying goes, "If you want something done, give it to a busy person." It kind of goes against logic that a busy person can get more stuff done than one with a lot of free time; but I believe it is true.

There is debate in my district about what constitutes an inappropriate site. If you read my blog, you will see that the Weight Watchers site is blocked. My district blocks anything with a forum, chat, posts, or email. So much for Web 2.0.

I hate to even appear to disagree with you but consider that when the door is wide open it is not just inappropriate sites but the many malicious sites that can cause real damage with the 'gifts' that they leave behind.
